Title IX: Promoting Safety and Respect

The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) and the teaching area of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) in the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences hold central the value that all members of our community are treated with respect and are provided equal opportunities for success in our educational and work environments. Sexual and gender-based harassment has no place in our community.  We must all be vigilant to ensure that each person feels safe and secure in participating in department activities.

In partnership with the University Title IX Office and the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (OSAPR), EPS and ESE seek to educate and engage our community on these issues. We have implemented procedures to promote proper conduct and address issues that might arise both on campus and during field activities, including annual training sessions, targeted pre-trip meetings, and procedures for reporting issues that might arise. We continue to build upon and expand these activities and welcome ideas and participation from all members—students, faculty, and staff.

We encourage any member of our community who has concerns or questions about issues surrounding Title IX or sexual harassment to reach out to these University resources.
