Valencia Ajeh
Graduate Student

Valencia studies the movement and transformation of organic isotopes to understand how these processes reveal and interact with climate change.
Valencia is a first-year Ph.D. student in Dr. Kevin Uno’s Terrestrial Paleoecology lab. She earned her B.A. in Environmental Earth Science from Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with the Class of 2024. During her time at WashU, she served as a research assistant in Dr. Bronwen Konecky’s Climate and Paleoclimate lab, where she focused on using organic geochemical tools to study past and modern climate systems.
Outside of her research, Valencia is deeply interested in the intersection of science, policy, communication, and environmental justice, with a particular focus on addressing the disproportionate impacts of climate change on marginalized communities. She is also passionate about fostering diversity within the Earth Sciences, advocating for greater representation and inclusion of underrepresented groups in the field.
Valencia is a graduate student in the Uno Group.
