Graduate Student & Post-Doc Seminar

Date:

Thursday, September 20, 2018, 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Location:

Haller Hall, Geological Museum Room 102, 24 Oxford St.

This week a community discussion entitled "How to celebrate and reckon with the history and future of EPS" will be led by Tamara Pico and Jocelyn Fuentes.

Lunch will be provided. Please bring reusable plates and cutlery to reduce waste.

Abstract:

We will present information on historical figures in EPS with lasting legacies in scientific racism and exclusionary practices at Harvard. We bring up these histories to begin a discussion around what values we hope to celebrate here at Harvard EPS, and how we can create a physical space that reflects those values. This will be an open discussion, and we welcome participation from all members of the EPS community! Hope to see you there! Feel free to send us thoughts and ideas if you are unable to attend this meeting, as this will help inform later community-wide discussions around this theme.
