Professor Charles H. Langmuir receives Maurice Ewing Medal in recognition of significant original contributions to the ocean sciences by the American Geophysical Union (AGU). The Maurice Ewing Medal is given annually to one honoree in recognition of significant original contributions to the ocean sciences which includes for the advancement of oceanographic engineering, technology, and instrumentation and/or outstanding service to the marine sciences. AGU, the world's largest Earth and space science association, annually recognizes a select number of individuals for its highest honors.
