Climate, Atmosphere, and Oceans
Climate, Atmosphere, and Oceans
Addressing the scientific and societal challenges of climate by observing, analyzing, and modeling the physics and chemistry of the atmosphere, ocean, and climate.

Our community of faculty and students studies the oceans, atmosphere, land and cryosphere through making and analyzing observations, coding simulations, and developing theory.
Our work improves understanding of the past, present, and future of Earth’s climate. Although the basic facts of anthropogenic climate change are well established, there remain a vast number of important unanswered questions regarding the history of Earth’s climate, how it will change going forward, including what these imply for society’s needs and ability to migrate and adapt to climate change.
